A kid's first haircut sets the tone for years. So does the third one, after they've had two bad ones somewhere else. With the Black Hat Barber, kids' cuts are slower, calmer, and run on a different clock than the adult chair. The standard of work is the same, we just take more time to make sure the kid is comfortable in it.
Parents are welcome to stay in the chair area. Bring a phone, a snack, a favorite stuffed animal, whatever helps. Cuts can be paused and restarted; we never rush a child through a service.

The Process at Black Hat Barber
Settling in
A couple of minutes of low-key conversation before any clippers come on. We meet your kids where they are. Also, gauging if they are social or want comfortable silence if needed. Television & Disney Plus is always available.
Cut, your style
We'll cut whatever you both want, fade, scissor cut, classic side-part. The same standard of work as the adult chair.
Take breaks if needed
If your kid needs a pause, we pause. There is no rush meter on the clock.
Finish & a quick brush
Final mirror check with the parent before we say it's done.

Kids' Haircut FAQ
What ages does the kids' haircut cover at Black Hat Barber?
The $30 kids' haircut applies to boys ages 12 and under. From 13 on, it's the standard $35 men's haircut.
My son has had bad experiences at other barber shops. Can you accommodate sensory needs?
Yes. Mention it when you book and we'll plan accordingly, chair position, clipper noise, pacing, taking breaks. Some kids do better in a parent's lap and we are completely fine with that.
Can I sit with my child during the haircut?
Of course. The chair area is open and parents are welcome to stay close throughout the appointment.
How early should I arrive for my child's first haircut?
Five minutes early is plenty. Ready when you are.
